THE MILE END CLIMBING CENTRE

Mile End makes it on to our site and list of climbing walls because it was the UK's, Britains first true dedicated Rock Climbing Centre.

Mile End opened to the public in 1989 it is based in the Ecology Park, Mile End Climbing Wall is probably the most established andoldest dedicated climbing wall in the country.

Many of Britain's top climbers and mountaineers have trained here. It is housed inside an old pipe engineering works, which is located within Mile End Park and is a five-minute walk from Mile End Tube Station - it has grown to its current size, approx. 16,000 sq. ft (1500 sq. m) of climbing surface. There is extensive "Bouldering" at all levels, Top-Roped and Lead Climbing as well as more advanced Training areas - "The Board Room", and "Monkey House".

The Mile End Climbing Wall is maintained by the registered charity 'DEVELOPMENT through CHALLENGE' - promoting personal development through challenging physical activity, especially to the young person.
